How to use it
- Calculate a term: start from “Me” and tap one relationship at a time (Father, Mother, Elder Brother…). The result card shows the term in Chinese, pinyin, English, how you address yourself, and what they call you back.
- Older or younger: for same-generation relatives the app asks whether the person is older or younger than you, since the term changes.
- Reverse lookup (查询): type a term like 舅, or a chain like 妈妈的爸爸, to see who it means.
- Notebook (亲友簿): save the real people in your family against their term. Everything is stored privately on your device.
- Hear it: tap the speaker icon on a result to hear the term spoken. (On iPhone, make sure the silent switch is off or volume is up.)
Privacy
The app works fully offline and collects no data. See the Privacy Policy.
Common questions
Why does a relationship show “no standard term”? Some distant or unusual relationships have no single standard Chinese word — the app shows a friendly informal address plus the literal meaning so you still know who they are.
Does it need the internet? No. It runs entirely on your device.
